Increase in Official Fees for all IP in Kuwait

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Kuwait has announced verbally that the official fees for most intellectual property transactions will be doubled by at least 19 times as of 21 December 2015. This increase will affect all trademark, patent, and industrial design applications filed after said date as well as retroactively for pending applications.

Previously, the official fees consist of filing fees and publication fees. But according to this announcement, there will be an extra fees for the registration.

Said decision has not been officially announced yet, but it is expected to be published in the Official Gazette on 21 December 2015.

Accordingly, we recommend our clients to send their filing instructions as soon as possible in order to save publication and registration costs.
