Saudi Patent Office is now acting as recipient office for International PCT applications

In line with Saudi Arabia accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) as of 3 May 2013, and coming into force of the Agreement as of 3 August 2013, the Saudi Patent Office has issued a formal Notification that, in coordination with WIPO, the Saudi Patent Office has been accredited as a recipient office of International PCT applications as of 1 February 2015.
The Saudi Patent Office started also on the said date to receive national phase patent applications under the PCT scheme.
The requirements for filing national phase patent applications are as follows:
1. A Power of Attorney, duly legalized up to the Saudi Consulate.
2. A Deed of Assignment from the inventor(s), duly legalized up to the Saudi Consulate.
3. A copy of the PCT application as published.
4. A certified copy of the priority document, if not already included in the PCT application.
5. Specification, abstract, claims, and drawings.
